Jen Bristol is a mission-driven strategic communicator that specializes in digital strategy, stakeholder and member engagement, brand management, and content creation. As a communications specialist contracted to the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office, she provides communications support for the office and leads its awardee engagement efforts, editorial calendar, digital presence, and special communication projects.
Jen is also passionate about public service and was elected in November 2016 to be an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in the U St and Columbia Heights neighborhoods in Washington, DC. In December 2017, she launched the Green Working Group, a strategic initiative designed to engage the community on energy issues and leverage Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1B’s negotiating power to incorporate energy conscious building features—like solar and stricter energy efficiency standards—to development projects that come before ANC 1B.
Prior to supporting the Energy Department, Jen supported the GW Solar Institute where she was responsible for managing the Institute’s diverse public affairs portfolio and office operations. Jen also managed event logistics and client relations for The Washington Campus’ executive MBA residency program and assisted SKDKnickerbocker’s public affairs practice.
Jen is originally from Stony Brook, NY and has a master in public administration from the George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
