John Werner has participated in the deregulated electricity markets for over 16 years. The majority of his experience has been in ERCOT (Texas) but he has operated in other retail electric markets throughout the country. His duties and responsibilities in the industry have included in-house legal counsel, business leader and owner of his own retail electric company. In the recent past he also participated on the ERCOT board representing the Independent Retail Electric Provider segment. He is now CEO of GridPlus Texas Inc., a start-up retail electric provider with the goal of introducing block chain technology and its proprietary in-home energy management device into the retail electric ecosystem. This technology will be used to introduce products and services never before offered to residential consumers, lower consumer cost and hedge risks inherent with various energy products.
