Ron Pate is Senior Vice President of Operations and Technical Services for Ameren Illinois Company (Ameren Illinois). Ameren Illinois serves 1.2 million electric and more than 812,000 natural gas customers in a 43,700-square-mile area of Illinois.
In his current role, Mr. Pate is responsible for the oversight and support of all electric and natural gas field operations; including subtransmission and distribution maintenance, engineering design, safety and training, reliability planning, dispatch operations, electrical and natural gas emergency response, and construction services for Ameren Illinois.
As a member of Ameren Illinois’ executive leadership team, Mr. Pate has previously been Vice President of Regional Operations, Vice President of Delivery System Operations & Development, Vice President of Asset Performance and Compliance Management, Vice President of Utility Operations, and Vice President of Operations and Technical Services. He has 39 years’ experience in the utility business, during which he has held numerous positions on both the electric and natural gas sides of the business. Mr. Pate joined AmerenIP in 1978.
He is past Chairman of the Illinois Energy Association and remains a board member, currently serves on the Boards of the Midwest Energy Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Macon County and Gas Technology Institute Operations Technology Development. He is on the Electric Power Research Institute’s Power Delivery & Utilization Committee and the American Gas Association’s Operations Managing Committee.
Mr. Pate earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and completed an Executive Leadership Program from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
